Summary

The temple, built in the 18th century as the chapel of the indigenous hospital, is now dedicated to the Christ of the Lord of Huaje, an image revered since its discovery in a Huaje tree in 1715. Adorned with murals depicting the history of Jocotepec and featuring a facade renovated in 1980, the temple serves as a center of devotion and pilgrimage. It is renowned for its life-sized Christ figure carved from a single piece, standing 3.20 meters tall and 2.41 meters wide.
